Transformation, Authenticity, and the Spiritual Journey
“As spiritual energies living out a human existence, transformation has its seed in our deep longing to be whole. It is something which we hope will strip away the stagnant, unworkable, or merely unsatisfying. We want what is outworn to be demolished, making way for a new expression of our being, one that truly brings us joy, one that gives us the courage to make sweeping changes because the reward is so great.” Spotted Eagle
The material plane is an extraordinary place. It is a place where almost anything, if not indeed everything, is possible. It is a place that incorporates our biggest fears, our greatest joys and all the mundane in the middle. My teacher Spotted Eagle tells us that we have chosen to incarnate into this plane as a means to overcome fear. It seems apparent that this earth plane offers us endless opportunities to do just that – or not. Spotted Eagle’s cohort Grandfather White Elk takes this a step further. He tells us that, merely by the choice of incarnating, we have done enough. There is nothing more we need do but move through this opportunity-rich experience. However, there is certainly more we can do should we choose it. For those of us who wish to pack in a little more “power reclamation,” there is a unique way which can be applied to any life scenario. It begins by understanding what Spotted Eagle calls the “biological contract.” This “contract” is the fear-producing framework with which we incarnate. It states that there is never enough to go around, and our survival thus depends on our ability to dominate the resources or to be successfully subservient to one who will take care of us. Failing these ends, the commonly held belief is that we risk loss of power, loss of safety, loss of love. Our freedom, our joy, our ability to bring healing to ourselves and this planet depend on our willingness to, first, identify this contract at work in our lives and, secondly, begin to work outside of it. There are a number of keys to observing and deconstructing the biological contract, but there is one which sets this process in motion very effectively: Authenticity. Identifying your authentic emotions in a difficult moment, such as sadness, confusion or anger, will set you on a course of reclaiming your power from fear. The humanly conditioned responses of shame, blame, outrage (righteous indignation), guilt, and pity (including self-pity) are wholly based on our unresolved issues needing attention and are never at the true heart of the matter. They are useful in that they point the way, but of themselves, they never tell the truth.
Today you can begin.
You can begin to tell yourself the truth. You can begin to observe your conditioned responses to old issues and then choose to look more deeply at whence they cometh until you can identify the underlying, authentic emotions. These can be known and released, but only in your "now" moment. You can begin today to make choices in each present moment that reflect your desire for a truthful experience not based on an old story or the imagining of a fear-based future. It’s a process that requires patience, observation, courage, persistence, more observation, more courage, more patience, and a big dose of humor! This willingness to be present with whatever exists in your now moment is the source of your real power and joy. The rewards are immeasurable, and include healing on a personal and universal level.
This is your full majority.
